Walking Each Other Home
Dear Beautiful Soul,
On my desk I have a quote from Ram Dass:
When all is said and done, we are all just walking each other home.
Next to these wonderful words are photos that greet me every day when I sit down to work. Here’s one from a 2017 camping and hiking adventure with my fabulous mother and daughter.
Ram Dass’s wise words and the photos are reminders for me. They remind me that my work is important. They remind me that I have so much to be grateful for. They remind me that it is always possible to take the next step, even if it’s into the unknown.
I’ve always interpreted the home referenced in Ram Dass’s quote as the inner home we all carry within us.
I’ve been in a time of transition for several years now so my inner home is my immediate reference point when I want to “come home”. That place, which I feel in my heart, is filled with memories, laughter, people and places, and intentions. It’s been a curious time with so many unknowns but those unknowns have strengthened this home I carry within. My home within is built on a firm foundation of daily practice, commitment to change and growth, faith, trust and belief.
It’s my hope that these Letters help to walk you to your inner home. Having an inner home with a firm foundation means you always have a safe place to go, a place to sit down, unburden and reflect. A place to be at peace for a bit.
It’s also my hope that these Letters help you build your inner home. Start with a firm foundation, then build a wall or two but add lots of doors and windows so the light of who you are can go out into the world and come back magnified.
Walking each other home is good, start with yourself and then shine.
Let’s keep the good going and growing . . .
XO Laura
