Dear Beautiful Soul,
As a species we are land creatures. We came from the sea (a few years ago) and many of us feel a special affinity for water—a sense of belonging. I’m sure the same is true for pilots, astronauts, parachutists and others who spend time in the sky—a sense of belonging to the air, to the wind, to the space above.
I myself love my feet on this sacred Earth. I’m a land creature who loves the ocean, loves the rivers, loves the high mountain lakes and I love to fly as well. But I belong to the land.
So when I do find myself in another space, snorkeling and diving or flying, it is with a sense of wonder and curiosity—I’m experiencing an environment that is not my own in terms of belonging. And I love it. And I especially love flying.
I fly to see family as we’re far flung. I fly for business, I fly for vacations and I am a great lover of a window seat. Every time the plane taxis down the runway and lifts off, that incredible moment when I feel the shift from land to air, I think, “Wow, this is a miracle, I’m flying. We’re flying!” It never gets old.
On a recent trip to visit family, my flight was routed around a storm. From my seat I could see the cloud formations I’m sharing with you in this Letter. (Again, I love a window seat!)
The view transported me out into the clouds, I had a sense of floating, of expansion, of becoming so vast that I vanished. After a while, a great sense of calm and peace and joy eased into me, bringing with it the awareness that I was seeing something extraordinary. Something really beautiful that needed to be shared. A view we don’t often see.
It was an absolute privilege to be up there in the clouds, capturing this extraordinary beauty, knowing that I could share it with you here, Beautiful Soul that you are.
It was just so good!
I wish you the joy of the extraordinary and the peace of knowing where you belong—Earth, Water or Sky.
Let’s keep the good going and growing . . .
XO Laura
PS. Where do you belong? Earth, Water or Sky or perhaps a mix? I’d love to know. XO
